Product Manager, Process Gas Chromatograph

 

General Description - Become a member of the technical management team of Schneider Electric in the Process Analyzers business as the Product Manager for our Process Gas Chromatograph product line reporting directly to the General Manager. You will work directly with the sales and engineering team developing your specific knowledge and skills related to our customers and applications. Process Analyzers is the business unit within Schneider Electric dedicated to delivering process analytical solutions to the leading companies of the world in the refining, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and steel industries. In addition to process GC, our technologies include mass spec, FTIR, dispersive NIR and Raman. This position is located at the Headquarters, which is collocated with the engineering and manufacturing teams in Upland, California.

 

Process Analyzers is launching a new Series 7 PGC which is designed from years of experience delivering its Series 5 PGC systems (heritage Foxboro). The Series 7 has all new electronics and software to advance the state of the art in its field.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This product management position is the focal point for all aspects of the Process Gas Chromatograph product line. The position has a broad range of duties and responsibilities which include and are not limited to:

  • Support product line goals with product development costing and planning, competitive analysis, and the implementation of marketing plans. Suggest alternatives to improve our competitive position and define new applications to improve market presence.
  • Provide timely and accurate technical assistance by joining the sales team in the field and making technical sales and application presentations and demonstrations.
  • Leading the preparation of timely technical, cost, and schedule proposals in response to customer requests and requirements. Qualify customer defined applications with assistance from our applications laboratory for on-line gas chromatography quotations.
  • Responsible to recognize when our customer requests and requirements are measurably different from our capability and to work with the sales department and /or the customer to define and negotiate an acceptable solution.
  • Provide initial technical design, engineering, direction, and support of gas chromatograph projects, to the engineering and manufacturing groups, based on the technical, quotation, and project requirements.
  • Provide program management for non-major projects from contracted receipt of order to the satisfactory delivery, field instillation, startup, and customer acceptance.
  • Responsible for meeting product line financial targets including revenue and gross margins that are in alignment with the company business plans.
  • Document and disseminate appropriate product and service applications.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and/or Chemistry is desired.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in applications, sales, and /or design of process gas analyzers used for control in the HPI or CPI industries.
  • Ability to travel both domestic and internationally up to 20% of the time.

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • In depth knowledge of the analytical process control market including system integration requirements.
  • Detailed experience and knowledge of applying gas analysis in refinery and petrochemical industries.
  • Management experience with global analyzer hazardous area deployment requirements.
  • Excellent critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, in addition to being highly capable of preparing and delivering major presentations.
  • The ability to create and lead an effective, productive, and positive team to achieve the project goals, objectives, and contracted requirements.
